Previous Weeks' Construction

The Week of April 19-23, 2004

On Monday, April 19, contractors insulated the sub-basement, crawlspace, and water pipes in the sub-basement. They also aligned pumps in the building. Electricians continued installing lights in the sub-basement and basement, mezzanine, and H & R building. Sheetrock was hung in the history classroom and plaster work continued on the mezzanine. Scaffolding was erected on the west side of the building and lathe, brown coat and metal studs were subsequently installed. Panels were also worked on the radius. Windows were also caulked by the window installation contractor. Doors were insulated and the radius wall was also framed. On Tuesday, contractors worked on the chiller and sub-basement cold water lines. Cooling towers were also cleaned and pumps were aligned. Lighting work continued in the mezzanine, basement, H & R building, and cooling towers along with miscellaneous power work. Sanding and plaster work continued on the mezzanine walls at the vestibule. Brown coat and metal stud work started in the southeast side of the building. Work on trim on the south side of the building also continued. Wood trim primer work started and areaway walls were patched and rubbed. Elevator contractors worked on the elevator frame room. On Wednesday, mechanical room rough-in trim work started and boilers 1 & 2 had their hot water test performed. Work on the heating system for the 3rd floor also continued. Electricians worked on basement lights and lighting for the 2nd floor along with H & R miscellaneous power for the mezzanine lights. Walls were plastered on the mezzanine and 1st floor. Brown coating, lathe work and metal stud work continued on the south side of the building. Flashing was installed on the south side of the building also. Wood trim prime work continued. New trim material was unloaded on site and measurements were taken on the radius in preparation for work there. Windows were adjusted and caulked. Walls were patched and rubbed, and wood block was installed on elevator door frames. On Thursday, work continued on humidity pipes for the 3rd floor and floor drains were also set in the chiller room. Walls were plastered and lights were roughed-in in the basement and mezzanine. Walls were plastered in the building also. Lights were roughed-in in the basement and mezzanine. Metal stud, lathe and brown work also continued. On Friday, contractors continued with their work from earlier in the week. Several windows had the visquine removed from them to see if they contained glass flaws as some previous found on site. Two of the windows contained flaws. The contractor will request and install replacements.

The Week of April 12-16, 2004

On Monday, contractors insulated sub-basement ducts and installed thermal wells and trim on the HVAC system in the main building. Electricians worked on 3rd and 4th floor lights along with basement fixtures. Workmen plastered walls on the mezzanine ceiling and performed trim work on the 1st floor, trimmed the lobby ceiling and hung sheetrock on the first floor. Metal stud work, lathe work and finishing/ brown coat work was applied to the building exterior on the North west tower. Wall panel work on the west ceiling continued. Electricians started pulling work in the mezzanine. Areaway walls were rubbed and patched and ladders were installed on manholes # 1 & 2. On Tuesday, cold water lines in the tunnel were worked on along with the air handler ducts and ducts in the south stairwell. Pipe expansion tanks on the 3rd floor were also worked on. In the sub-basement, lights and plugs were installed in the basement and 3rd floor. Walls were plastered in the mezzanine and plaster trim work continued on the 1st floor. Trim work in the lobby ceiling continued. Brown coat work continued on the southwest tower along with lathe and metal stud work. Windows were installed in the radius of the 3rd floor. Wires were pulled in the mezzanine. Area walls were patched and rubbed. Water was pumped in the H & R building and doors were adjusted. On Wednesday, hot water coils were checked in preparation for start-up. Dampers in RC1 were insulated. Light work continued in the sub-basement with plugs, and misc. power work in the basement. Walls were roughed-in along with the floor in room 113. Walls in the mezzanine were plastered along with the lobby ceiling. Sheetrock was hung on the 2nd floor. Brown coat, lathe, metal stud work continued on the south side of the building. Scaffolding on the north side was removed. Wiring on the first floor continued, while workmen finishing wiring on the mezzanine. Trim work started. Areaway walls were patched and rubbed. Doors were set in the stairwells. On Thursday, cold water lines in the sub-basement were insulated along with reheat coils in air handler unit 4. Electricians worked on lights, sump pumps, and basement/sub-basement lights, long with electrical equipment in the H & R building. Sheetrock was hung on the 3rd floor and vestibule ceiling. Plaster work continued in the mezzanine. On Friday, workmen continued the same work and finished the week with general site cleanup.

The Week of April 5-9, 2004

On Monday, contractors insulated the sub-basement and installed trim on chill and condenser water pipe. Inside the lobby, other contractors trimmed the lobby ceiling, plastered the ceiling on the mezzanine and hung drywall on the first floor. Scaffolding was erected on the south side. Lathe and brown coat work continued on the SW tower. Interior, contractors worked on the elevator platform. Windows were also caulked on the North side and door frames were set and adjusted. Electricians continued connecting the air handler units on the sub-basement level, levels 1 & 2, installed fans, connected plugs and worked on EEC units. On Tuesday, contractors worked on cold water system pipes for the H & R building. Electricians continued their work as on Monday. Ceilings were plastered and drywall was hung. Insulation was installed on the south side along with brown coat. Wall panels were installed in the roof radius. The elevator installation contractor worked on hydraulic fluid lines. Door frames were caulked along with work on the mezzanine. On Wednesday, insulation work continued in the sub-basement and plumbers worked on the soft water pipes for the H & R building. Electricians worked throughout the building. Plaster ceiling work on the window radius continued and finish frame work on the columns also continued and the recess area set aside for the bronze doors. Brown coat was installed along with metal studs and lathe work. On Thursday, workmen insulated air handler unit # 4 in the sub-basement. Electricians continued work on the various floors. Plaster work on the ceiling and wall work in the mezzanine also continued along with the window radius trim in the lobby. Brown coat, metal studs and lathe work also continued. The elevator doors were also framed. On Friday, electricians pulled wire, installed light plugs, plastered ceiling walls and installed fire caulk. The janitor sink was bolted to the custodian's floor.
