Mrs. Price graduated from Tuskegee University with a BA degree in English/Journalism and from the University of Maryland (College Park) with an MA in American Studies. She is presently Assistant Professor of Humanities at Alabama State University in Montgomery. Mrs. Price has received numerous awards including one from the Southern Poverty Law Center for outstanding service rendered in connection with the Civil Rights Memorial, an award from the NAACP for her dedication and service as advisor of the Alabama State University Chapter, another from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority as its 1998 Woman of the Year, and and an award from the Montgomery Chapter of The Links, Inc. in 1997 for exemplary contributions to the arts for published works of literature. In 1998, a monetary gift was presented in her honor to the Alabama Laubach Literacy Council. She presently serves as chair of The Arts Committee for the Montgomery Chapter of The Links and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Symphony, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and Leadership Montgomery. In December, 1998, she served as a member of the Music Education and Access Panel for the National Endowment for the Arts. Mrs. Price is Chairman of the State Arts Council and serves as ex officio on all committees.
