Visitors to the Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery must find alternative parking arrangements now that construction has begun on the new 60,000 square-foot west wing. During construction visitors must utilize available on-street parking. Visitors may wish to park in the train shed at downtown Montgomery's Visitor Center adjacent to Union Station and take the Lightning Route Gold Line Trolley to the Archives.

School and tour groups are advised to unload/load passengers at the kiosks directly across Union Street at the rear of the State Capitol. Tour groups may the walk the short distance across Union Street to enter the Archives on Washington Avenue. Bus parking is provided free of charge at the Cramton Bowl parking lot just south of Madison Avenue. A handicapped accessible entrance is located on the Union Street side of the Archives. We apologize for any inconvenience.
