Creation and Authority
The State Records Commission was created and authorized by state law in 1955.

The State Records Commission consists of seven members, five of them are ex
officio and the other two are appointed. The ex officio members
The appointed members are selected by the heads of the
Departments of History at the University of Alabama and Auburn University.
The State Records Commission is charged with the following responsibilities:
