Directions from I-65 South (from Mobile) or I-65 North (from Birmingham). Go to I-85 Interchange - direction towards Atlanta (See general area map). Exit at Court St. (exit 1) onto Arba St. which runs parallel to the interstate. Follow Arba St. to near its end and turn left onto Union St. Go North towards the State Capitol to the intersection of Union St. and Washington Ave. Turn left onto Washington Ave. The Archives is on the left in the middle of the block, just South of the State Capitol. Entrances to the Archives are on both the Washington Ave. and Adams Ave. side of the building. Directions from I-85 North (from Atlanta). Exit at the downtown/Union St. exit (exit 1). Drive North to the intersection of Union St. and Washington Ave. Turn left onto Washington Ave. The Archives is on the left in the middle of the block, just South of the State Capitol. Entrances to the Archives are on both the Washington Ave. and Adams Ave. side of the building. Parking and Bus Unloading Buses -- Follow directions above to Union St. On Union St. turn left onto Alabama Street. Go to the next intersection (Bainbridge St.) and turn right. Go up the hill through the Adams Ave. intersection and the Archives bus loading/unloading zone is on the right just before the Washington Avenue intersection/traffic light. THIS AREA IS A LOADING/UNLOADING ZONE ONLY. Unload passengers and turn left on Washington Ave. Turn left again at the next intersection (Decatur St.) and again left at the following intersection -- Adams Ave. Cross the intersection of Adams Ave. and Bainbridge St. (next block) and the Archives parking lot is on the right in the middle of the block -- directly across from the Archives and History (Alabama War Memorial Building) South entrance. Park buses in the bus lane on the right side of the parking lot. To exit the lot, turn right at the bottom of the lot onto Alabama St. Turn right again at the intersection of Bainbridge and return to the loading area. Cars -- Follow directions above to Washington Avenue. Turn left from Washington onto Bainbridge Street. Go up the hill and turn left onto Adams at the first traffic light. The Archives parking lot is on the right opposite the Archives building. Visitor parking is located on the left side of the parking lot.
