D. Howell Turner

David Howell Turner, of Camden, was born at Camden, May 10, 1885. He was the son of M.A. and Jeanetta (McIntosh) Turner, the former a native of Mobile, who lived for a number of years at Camden and who served as its mayor; grandson of Samuel and Emily (Howell) Turner, of Mobile, Ala., and Edgefield, S.C., and of D. M. and Caroline (McDowell) McIntosh, of Camden.

Mr. Turner received his early educaion in the public and private schools of Camden, attended the University of Alabama, and in 1910 took a business course at Eastman College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He served as Court Reporter of the Fourth Judicial Circuit from 1911 to 1930. He served as Private Secretary to the Governor, 1931-1935; State Auditor, 1935-1939. He was a Democrat, a Presbyterian, and a Knight of Pythias.

Married: December 18, 1913, at Statesville, N.C., Nannie (Miller) Bonner, daughter of T.D. and Martha (Witherspoon) Miller, of that place. Children: 1. David Howell, Jr.; 2. Nancy Bonner; 3. Jeanetta McIntosh.
