Elected as State Auditor of the State of Alabama on November 3, 1998.
1996-1998: President, Parker Plus Consulting Specializing in grantwriting and training in board development and fundraising for non-profit organizations.
1988-1996: Athens State College Assistant to the President for External Affairs and Chief Development Officer Responsible for all private fundraising and management of those funds.
1972-1988: Calhoun Community College During sixteen years of employment worked a various positions including: Assistant Dean of Administrative Services, Director of College Promotions, Director of Job Placement, Office Manager and Admissions Clerk.

Past member of many, many boards of nonprofit, charitable organizations serving as President of the following county chapters: Heart Association, Cancer Society, Leukemia Society, Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce Leadership Programs, Mental Health Association, United Way, Community Unity
Past President of Alabama Counseling Association statewide organization representing counselors in the state. Treasurer of the Alabama College Association. Member of the State Board for the Heart Association.
Taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Hartselle for ten years.
Career Honors
Selected in 1987 by the U.S. Jaycees as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA) one of four people in the state and the first woman in Alabama ever to receive that award
