R. J. Goode

Robert James Goode, Jr., of Gastonburg, was born August 2, 1888, at Prairie, Wilcox County. He is the son of Robert James and Annie L. (Gaston) Goode, of near Camden; grandson of Robert L. and Viola H. (Mathews) Goode, of Camden, and of David F. and Mary (Fluker) Gaston, of Gastonburg.

Mr. Goode was educated in the public schools of Gastonburg, received at Marion Intsitute the degrees of A.B. and B.S., and in 1910 attended the University of Pennsylvania. He is engaged in the insurance business at the same time being interested in farming and livestock breeding. He has served in the legislatures of 1915, 1927, and 1931. He was elected Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Industries in 1934. He is a Democrat and a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon college Fraternity.

Married: April 24, 1912, at Mobile, Grace Edwards, daughter of Joseph H. and Mary (Chapman) Pugh, of McKinley. Children: 1. Robert James III.

Died on November 20, 1953.
