Agricluture Commissioner Robert Bamberg

Robert Charles Bamberg, Jr., was born December 11, 1911, in Bibb County, son of Robert Chalmers and Minnie (Ward) Bamberg, of Brent, in Bibb County, the former a member of the Alabama House of Representatives 1951-55; grandson of Robert A. and Nancy Jane Bamberg and of Solomon Parker and Mary Jane Ward.

Mr. Bamberg was educated in the public schools of Bibb County and graduated from the Bibb County High School, at Centreville, graduated from Auburn in 1940 with a B.S. in Agriculture Education. He is a farmer. He served two years in the European Theater and one year in the Pacific Theater as Captain in the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, during World War II. He is a Democrat and a Methodist.

Married: May 28, 1946, at Plantersville, Olivia, daughter of Oscar Hamilton and Mary (Wright) Barnes of Chilton County, granddaughter of Mitchell Leroy and Mary Jane Wright, and of Michael Harrison and Sarah Barnes. Children: 1. Robert Chalmers, III.
